Week ending 11th Nov 2019

Welcome to my Friday dribble where we talk things agri sport and life.

Running a few days late after having some computer problems last week. But there is still plenty of news.

On the 31st oct and 1st Nov, I was fortunate enough to spend some time at my old firm, Select Equities, and their “Doing business in China conference ”There were a lot of high quality presentations from companies with exposure to trade into China and South East Asia. The general feeling was that most products are still selling well, but dairy is a standout.

Rory Macleod from Freedom Foods was very upbeat and suggested that the latest Chinese 5 year plan would see dairy demand outstrip supply.

Blackmores CFO Aaron Canning said their number 5 SKEW into Asia now was infant formula with Vietnam being the main buyer.

Also fairly upbeat was almond producer SHV. Paul Thompson was not at all fazed by the high water prices, which suggest that his almond prices are strong.

On other news and there has been some rain in western NSW in the past few weeks with Bourke getting 100mms, or 4 inches in the old scale.

See the photo below from Murray and Skye Bragg. It was taken on their place between Bourke and Brewarrina.
